Mumbai, May 26:
The National Stock Exchange's (NSE) Brokers Plaza, an e-trading
online site for retail investors, will be powered by Intel
architecture-based servers. The announcement was made in Mumbai at a
press meet held by Craig Barrett, president and chief executive
officer (CEO) of Intel Corporation and NSE's managing director, RH
Patil on Friday.
The outlay to setup the Brokers
Plaza is estimated at Rs 25 crore. The tie-up for Intel servers is
between Intel Corporation and DotEx International. DotEx is a joint
venture between NSE.IT and i-flex Solutions, formerly called Citil.
"This is a great move forward for the National Stock Exchange
and India as a whole," Patil said. "We are pleased to have
Intel with capabilities to supply pre-eminent and proven building
blocks to the worldwide Internet economy and help u build the
Brokerage Plaza online finance solutions in the Indian market,"
a written statement from the executive director of NSE.IT, Satish
Naralkar said.
Brokers Plaza is positioned to
provide trading services primarily for brokerages which will in turn
offer online trading facilites to retail investors.
Intel also plans to invest in
internet economy related to hardware, software, infrastructure and
local content this year. The company has earmarked $100 million
towards such venture funding, Craig said.
